Allen West Guardian Fund identifies deep bench and diversity in conservative movement

PAC “Watch List” features 70 conservative veterans & minorities

WASHINGTON DC, APRIL 30, 2014 – The large number of candidates on the Allen West Guardian Fund watch list underscores the importance of the Fund’s mission and demonstrates the deep bench and diversity among conservatives.

The Fund was established in January of 2013 as a Political Action Committee (PAC) to support conservative military veteran and minority Republicans running for state and federal office.

“These candidates are stepping forward to help lead this nation’s turnaround,” said Allen West, “It’s incredibly encouraging to see so many veterans and minorities eager to take up the conservative banner as guardians of our Republic. With increasing threats from enemies abroad, and some here at home determined to stir up racial animosity, there has never been a more important time for conservative minorities and those who have served in uniform to be on Capitol Hill.”

So far, the Allen West Guardian Fund has endorsed three candidates with plans to endorse 11 more for a total of “14 in 2014 ” once they have secured the GOP nominations. Endorsement events are planned for May and September.

At the same time, the Fund is monitoring the progress of 70 potential candidates across 26 states, including six each in California and Florida, and four in both New York and Georgia. Of the 70 candidates, three have been featured as “Ones to Watch:” Ryan Zinke (MT at large), Shane Osborn (NE-Sen), and Jorge Bonilla (FL-9).

Endorsed candidates include Mia Love (UT-4), Dan Bongino (MD-6) and Rep. Tom Cotton (AR-4), who is running for Senate in Arkansas.

Since its founding, the Allen West Guardian Fund has achieved impressive results:

Raised $3,777,000 so far, with $1,135,250 coming in the first quarter of 2014 alone
Over 100,000 individual donors
$1,209,200 cash on hand

“Clearly, the conservative message is resonating across our nation and momentum is building,” said Allen West, “In January 2013, we had about 190,000 followers on Facebook. Two weeks ago, we surpassed 1,000,000. Our voices are ringing out from sea to shining sea.”
