Barry Loudermilk served in the United States Air Force from 1984 until 1992 during the 1986 Philippine Crisis, the 1986 Air Raid on Libya, Operation Just Cause in Panama, Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He received numerous awards and decorations for his exemplary service, including two Force Commendation Medals, one Air Force Achievement Medal, and the United States National Defense Service Medal. Barry was first elected in 2004, as a state representative to Georgia’s 14th State House District and in 2010 was elected to serve in the Georgia State Senate. He continues to serve his country and state as an active officer in the Civil Air Patrol, where he has attained the rank of Lt. Colonel, and is a volunteer search and rescue pilot with the Rome squadron.
