Lieutenant Commander DeSantis was sworn into the Judge Advocate General Corps of the U.S. Navy in 2004 while still a student at Harvard Law School. During his naval service, he deployed to Iraq in the midst of the 2007 troop surge as an advisor to a U.S. Navy SEAL commander in support of special operations missions in Iraq. Since he was elected to represent Florida’s 6th District in Congress in 2012, Ron DeSantis has established himself as a principled conservative leader. He is currently still active in the U.S. Navy reserves.
