After enlisting in the United States Navy after high school, Todd Young received an appointment from the Secretary of the Navy to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He graduated cum laude, earning a B.S. in political science, and accepted a commission in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon graduating from Annapolis, Young qualified as an expert rifleman and was trained in Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection. Young earned his MBA from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business while on active duty in Chicago. Following his service in the Marine Corps, Young earned his J.D. from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He went on to run for Congress in 2010 in Indiana’s 9th district and defeated incumbent Democrat Baron Hill. He has served in Congress since January 2011 and in 2016 announced that he would not seek reelection in the House in order to run for Indiana’s Senate seat left vacant by retiring Dan Coats.
